Diamond Education
When choosing a diamond you should be aware of the 4 C's; Carat, cut, clarity and color. They will play a role in how a diamond is priced and in how you perceive the beauty of each individual stone.
The 4 C's act as a universal scale to describe and determine the quality of diamonds.
CARAT
Diamonds are sold by the carat which is a unit of weight, not size. One carat weighs 200 milligrams, a world standard since 1914. A carat is divided into 100 points, with one point corresponding to .01 carat.
CLARITY
Clarity refers to the purity of the diamond and is based on the absence or presence of internal characteristics. Every diamond is unique. As they are formed by extreme heat and pressure deep underground they may develop internal characteristics which are known as inclusions. These inclusions or "birthmarks" can be visible to the naked eye or only noticeable under 10x magnification.

These grades are determined by comparing the color of each stone to an internationally recognized master color scale.
